How do you give difficult feedback to a volunteer?

They are unpaid, they mean well, and the work is not good enough.

Same as paid staff, just sooner. The mistake is waiting because they are volunteers, and by the time you say something it has become a much bigger conversation.

Separate the person from the task. Often they are in the wrong role rather than the wrong organisation.
