Question

Every job wants 3 years experience. How did you get your first one?

I finished my degree in June. Every role in this sector says entry level and then asks for three years. I am starting to think the entry level jobs are not real.

They are real, they are just not advertised. Most of the people I have hired came from somewhere I had already seen them work. Volunteer on something small, do it visibly, and be the person who is still there in month six.

Apply anyway. The three years is a wish, not a rule. I got my first role with none of it because I was the only applicant who had read their annual report.

One more thing. Small organisations hire faster and teach you more. Everyone applies to the big names and the competition there is brutal.
