The African STARS (Science, Technology, and Research Specialists) Fellowship Programme stands as a critical initiative for clinical research. Supported by the Mastercard Foundation, this program aims to build a robust pipeline of African leaders in clinical research and development. Consequently, it addresses the continent’s pressing need for high-quality, locally-led health solutions.
Two Distinct Tracks
The program recognizes that researchers have different needs at different career stages. Therefore, it offers two specialized tracks:
- **Advanced & Translational Training (ATT):** This track targets experienced researchers. Specifically, it focuses on “translational†science—moving discoveries from the laboratory into clinical practice.
- **Young Professional Programme (YPP):** This track supports early-career scientists. Here, the focus lies on foundational skills, mentorship, and career development.
